Stay
Stay above the farm.
Eight proposed elevated eco-cottages, designed so that you wake to the sights and sounds of a working farm.

The farm is the view.
The idea behind the Nature Nest cottages is simple: raise them up, open them out, and let the farm do the rest.
The concept plan arranges eight cottages in two rows at the centre of the estate. Each is planned to look over a different part of the farm — the fish pond to the north, the orchard and vegetable garden to the south, gardens and animal areas to either side. Mornings are meant to begin on the balcony, tea in hand, as the farm wakes up below.

Architecture
Rooted in natural architecture.
The cottage design draws on traditional rural building in Sri Lanka — timber, thatch and shade — reinterpreted for comfort.
Elevated timber construction
Hardwood posts are planned to lift each cottage roughly 2.5–3 metres above the ground, reducing ground disturbance and catching the breeze.
Thatched roofs
Steep roofs of palmyra or cadjan thatch, with deep overhanging eaves for shade and rain.
Wraparound balconies
Generous timber balconies with turned railings, designed for slow mornings and sunset views.
Natural ventilation
Cross-ventilated layouts and louvred timber shutters, planned to keep rooms comfortable with less reliance on mechanical cooling.
Natural materials
Hardwood, woven bamboo, lime plaster and natural finishes, sourced locally wherever possible.
Connected to the farm
Raised walkways are planned to link the cottages with the restaurant and gardens, keeping the farm close but undisturbed.
Inside the cottages
Designed as two-bedroom cottages.
The current design concept describes each cottage as a two-bedroom unit, comfortable for couples, families and small groups of friends.
- A main bedroom opening onto the balcony and the farm view
- A second bedroom suited to children or friends
- An open living area with low, relaxed seating
- An en-suite bathroom
- Mosquito-net canopies over the beds, in traditional style
- Bamboo and rattan furnishings and natural linens

Artist's impressionRelaxation & privacy
Space to slow down.
The plan spaces the cottages generously apart for privacy and airflow, with gardens and shade trees between them. A swimming pool set among the gardens, an open-air yoga deck and an evening campfire area are all part of the concept.
The balconies are designed for birdsong, the breeze and long views across the farm.
